Albert Poronsky, D.O.
graduated from the Chicago College of Osteopathic Medicine (now Midwestern University) in 1985. He completed his Family Medicine residency there in 1988 and is Board Certified in Family Medicine by the American Board of Osteopathic Family Physicians.
Dr. Poronsky strives to treat patients as he would want his family members treated. He is a member of the medical staff at Palos Community Hospital where he served as Past Chairman of the Department of Family Medicine. He has worked with medical students and Nurse Practitioner students, and is an Assistant Clinical Professor, University of Illinois at Chicago, College of Medicine and College of Nursing.
He has also precepted and mentored students from Midwestern University and Saint Xavier University, Chicago. When he has free time Dr. Poronsky enjoys golf, fishing, and reading.
Galia Beitner D.O.
graduated from the Chicago College of Osteopathic Medicine (now Midwestern University) in 1998. She completed her Family Medicine residency at the University of Illinois/Advocate Christ Hospital in 2001 and is Board Certified in Family Medicine by the American Board of Family Physicians.
Dr. Beitner is a member of the medical staff at Palos Community Hospital. She enjoys caring for all age groups and focuses on prevention and shared decision making with all of her patients. Dr. Beitner has volunteered in a free clinic for the homeless for many years and has mentored medical students from Midwestern University, Rush Medical College and nurse practitioner students from Saint Xavier University. In her free time is passionate about rescuing animals, big and small.
Our Family Nurse Practitioners:
is a board certified Advanced Practice Nurse (APN) with a specialty in Family Practice. She joined Poronsky Family Practice in 2009. Prior to becoming a Family Nurse Practitioner, she practiced as a Registered Nurse (RN) in the state of Illinois. Past experience includes critical care, women’s health and community health in the junior high school setting.
Coleen earned a Master’s of Science in Nursing (MSN) from Saint Xavier University, Chicago, IL in 2009; a Bachelors of Science in Nursing (BSN) from Lewis University, Romeoville, IL in 1985; and a Diploma in Nursing, from Evangelical School of Nursing, Oak Lawn, IL in 1983.
earned a Master’s of Science in Nursing from Saint Xavier University, Chicago in 2008. She is a board-certified Family Nurse Practitioner and joined Poronsky Family Practice in 2010. She earned a Bachelors of Science in Nursing and Psychology from Elmhurst College in 2002. Prior to becoming a Nurse Practitioner, Christina spent eight years working as a nurse on a cardiac unit.
Cathlin Poronsky, APN, FNP-BC,
enjoys caring for and educating patients and families on all aspects of health, with a particular interest in women’s health and the care of children. Catie has been an RN for over 30 years and an FNP since 1997. She earned a Bachelors of Science in Nursing (BSN) from Loyola University Chicago, a Master’s of Science in Nursing and FNP education from University of Illinois at Chicago, and a PhD in Nursing from the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee. She is a faculty member and Director of the Family Nurse Practitioner program at Loyola University Chicago where she enjoys teaching and preparing the next generation of Nurse Practitioners.
